Black Swan

Last weekend my friend and I went to see Black Swan

Unfortunately I'm not quite sure what I thought of it. Many people had told me in advance that it was quite scary but I didn't think it was! Yes there was some creepy and jumpy moments and one or two when I turned away but it was what I thought!

Natalie Portman was fantastic although I didn't like the character she played, to be honest I didn't warm to any of the characters which is possibly why I didn't enjoy it so much

One thing I did come away thinking.... I certainly won't complain about wearing high heels seeing what ballet dancers put their feet through!!!

Pin It Now!

  2. There's loads of films out at the moment that I want to see. Unfortunately, we don't get to the cinema very often so they'll probably be out on DVD before I see them.

  3. I've not had chance to see this yet, but what you said about high heels made me laugh. I did ballet until I was about 18 and my feet have never been pretty since! Gosh it used to hurt! x

  9. this was on my list of films to get on dvd, but the more I hear about it, the more I think 'maybe not'.

I bought some pointe shoes on ebay a couple of years ago, just to hang around the house as decoration. My genius plot was to get them in my size, wear them around the house to scuff them up and look worn, then pretend that I had been a dancer at some point in my life.

Ha. Not a chance. Those things are the work of the devil, and I could barely walk a few steps. How anyone can dance in them is beyond me. They are cruel. And I've hobbled about in some nasty heels in my life, but they don't compare!

Thanks for your comment yesterday, it made my day! I thought people would think me totally sad for setting up pics, but I so enjoy it. Last year I snaffled an idea from The Lady, and the ballet shoe pic idea I have on the side bar is snaffled from a Laura Ashley advert!

have a lovely evening. I know I must owe you a squillion emails, but you know what I'm like xxxx

  10. I had the same reaction as you. I definitely did not like any of the characters in this film (which is probably why I feel so "meh" about the film) and I'm not sure why this film is receiving so many accolades (other than Natalie Portman's performance, which is, indeed, very good). I too, expected it to be scary and like you, found it not to be. Ballerinas sure do go through a lot of physical torture for their art, don't they?
